How Much Does iPhone Data Recovery Cost?

$300 Data Recovery charges a flat $500 to recover any iPhone in our own lab, regardless of model or storage size. Every phone is attempted in-house first. If we can’t recover it and you approve sending it to a specialist, that’s $600 for iPhone 14 and earlier or $800 for iPhone 15, 16 and 17, plus $50 or $75 of shipping.

There is no charge for the in-house attempt if we recover nothing.

How much is an iPhone recovery in your own lab?

$500 flat. That price is the same for an iPhone 8 with 64GB and an iPhone 17 Pro Max with 1TB, and it’s the same for iPads, Samsung, Pixel and Android phones.

Device Price
Any iPhone, recovered in-house $500 flat
Any iPad or tablet, recovered in-house $500 flat
Any Samsung, Pixel or other Android phone, in-house $500 flat

In plain terms: $300 Data Recovery charges $500 to recover a phone or tablet in-house, whatever the brand and whatever its storage capacity. Unlike hard drives and memory cards, phones are not priced in capacity tiers.

What happens if you can’t recover my iPhone in-house?

We tell you, and then we offer you the choice of escalating to a specialist partner. Nothing is sent anywhere without your approval.

$300 Data Recovery passes along its discounted specialist pricing and never charges the in-house rate on top of it. The specialist fee replaces our fee, it is not added to it.

Device Specialist fee
iPhone 14 and earlier $600
iPhone 15, 16 and 17 $800
Non-iPhone phones (Android, Samsung, Pixel) $700

Half the specialist fee is due before they begin, and it is refunded in full if the specialist fails. The remaining half is due only on success.

How much is the shipping to the specialist?

$50 if you dropped the phone off and will collect it from us, and $75 if you mailed it in.

The reason is simply the number of legs. Shipping to the specialist and back to $300 Data Recovery is $25 each way, which is $50 and is always owed. If you mailed the phone in rather than dropping it off, sending it on to you afterward adds a third $25 leg, for $75 total.

That shipping is owed whether or not the recovery succeeds, because the phone travels either way.

What would my total actually be?

Scenario Math Total
iPhone recovered in our lab $500 $500
We recover nothing, no specialist no recovery fee $0
iPhone 13 sent to a specialist, successful, mailed in $600 + $75 $675
iPhone 16 sent to a specialist, successful, mailed in $800 + $75 $875
iPhone 16 sent to a specialist, successful, dropped off $800 + $50 $850
Specialist fails, phone was mailed in deposit refunded, shipping only $75
Specialist fails, phone was dropped off deposit refunded, shipping only $50

Add a transfer drive and return shipping to any successful row. Your phone comes back to you in every scenario above.

Does the model or the amount of storage change the price?

No. $300 Data Recovery charges $500 for an in-house phone recovery whatever the model and whatever the capacity.

The model only becomes relevant if the in-house attempt fails and you choose to escalate, because specialist pricing does split at the iPhone 15. Newer iPhones are harder for the specialist to work on, and that shows up as $800 instead of $600.

What kinds of iPhone failure can be recovered?

Broadly, the physical ones. A phone that won’t power on, water damage, a board damaged by a drop, a phone that boots to a black screen, or one stuck in a boot loop are all cases where the data is usually still present on the storage chip and the problem is getting to it.

Some older devices need the storage chip removed from the board to be read. When that applies there is a $100 removal fee, due up front and non-refundable, applied toward the recovery price on success.

There is a real limit worth stating plainly. An iPhone you cannot unlock cannot be recovered, by us or by anyone. Modern iPhones encrypt their storage with a key tied to your passcode, so without the passcode the data is unreadable even with the chip in hand. If you don’t have the passcode, don’t send the phone.

Do I pay anything if you can’t recover my iPhone?

Not for the in-house attempt. If $300 Data Recovery recovers nothing, there’s no recovery fee.

The exceptions are the ones stated above: the $100 chip removal fee if that step was needed, and specialist shipping if you approved an escalation. Both are told to you before they apply. The full list is on our no data, no fee page.

What should I do before sending an iPhone in?

  1. Stop trying to charge or power it on repeatedly if it’s water damaged. Each attempt can push corrosion further.
  2. Check whether anything is already in iCloud, in your Photos on another device, or in a computer backup. It costs nothing to look and it sometimes ends the problem.
  3. Make sure you know the passcode.
  4. Submit our Chances Form with the model and what happened. We reply with an honest read on your odds and a firm price before you ship anything.
